Points of Consideration regarding Town of Homer Zone Change
Encourage sound business development
Without continued business growth, increases in taxes will be difficult to sustain. State roads and the railroad area need to be preserved for business development. Of particular concern are the Route 11, 13,41,90 and 281 corridors.Prevent current businesses from being zoned out of compliance.
Of particular concern are zone changes that would prohibit businesses currently in "Business Zoned" areas from expanding.Create different levels within a zone.
For example, I-I, which might allow for all industrial activities, and 1-2, which might allow for only manufacturing activities.Create fundamental zoning to allow low barriers for business development.
We would oppose relying on the Zoning Board of Appeal as the primary avenue for business development.
The members of the zoning committee formed to produce the proposed document are:
Dan Gustafson, Chair
Bruce Weber, Code Enforcer
Ted Sudol, Citizen taxpayer
Leslie Wright
Dick Crane
Bob Perry
John Phelps, Town Highway superintendent
Fred Forbes
Dan Dineen, County
Planning.
The following is a working copy of the Town
of Homer Zoning Ordinance as of Jan 1, 2007.
